Federal Business Opportunities issued a Modification notice regarding the 2nd Generation Information Technology (2GIT) Blanket Purchase Agreement on March 5, 2019. This is a Request for Quote released by General Services Administration agency on the behalf of the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS).
This is a Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) contract opportunity that currently holds Pre-RFP (RFI) acquisition status. It was primarily released on Oct-24-2018 and it is anticipated to be awarded on Apr-18-2019. The Government has not given further information regarding Set-Aside restrictions, but the contract vehicle “GSA SCHEDULE 70 IT EQUIPMENT SOFTWARE AND SERVICES” NAICS Code(s) is 334210.
Its ultimate goal is to provide the Government with a fast and effective way to order IT hardware and software commodities, supplies and services at affordable prices with prompt, cost-effective delivery, and effective customer service. Moreover, 2GIT BPA intends to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, fostering markets for sustainable technologies and environmentally preferable products, while simplifying data collection.
A Broader Spectrum of the Contract
The government is requiring for IT hardware and software commodities, including services to all federal, state, local agencies buying from GSA’s IT Schedule 70 program. The contract aims to provide agencies with the opportunity to procure data center equipment, end-user hardware like technology equipment, as well as a total solutions pool for vendors who can provide all four-line items on a single BPA. This will allow agencies to obtain IT hardware and software at a discounted rate. This total solution will be a one-stop-shop in the Information Technology market to meet the needs of
- Air Force
- Department of Defense (DoD) agencies
- Federal, State, Local, Regional, and Tribal Governments
These agencies will be supported with products and related services worldwide such as networking equipment, servers/storage/peripherals/multimedia, identity management / biometric hardware, end-user devices and associated Commercial Off-Shelf (COTS) software not included on other DoD or Federal Agency enterprise license agreements.
The Second-Generation Information Technology (2GIT) BPAs will contain attributes not found in other IT commodity acquisition solutions within the Federal Government. In addition, the contract includes strategic sourcing attributes such as data collection and reporting, and is based on direct customer feedback.
The Government is willing to use a purchasing mechanism that functions better and is more cost-effective. Therefore, contracting and open market costs including the search for sources; the development of technical documents and solicitations; and the evaluation of offers will be eliminated.
General Services Administration intends to establish Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) BPAs against the GSA IT Schedule 70 contract that will include software, products, and other services.
