Background

Today the NPS manages 388 parks and other designated units covering 88 million acres of land throughout the United States and its territories, conserving and interpreting a broad and diverse array of natural and cultural resources.

Requirements

The scope of work includes:

  • The project involves strategic pre-rehabilitation of the historic Maurice and Libbey bathhouses to provide opportunities for their adaptive reuse. Numerous critical building systems and features need to be restored, rehabilitated, or replaced after years of decay; the bathhouse facilities have been maintained in a vacant condition for several years.
  • The work also includes full replacement of their roofs and one additional roof on an adjacent bathhouse [Buckstaff]. The projects’ goal is to significantly reduce the park’s future operations and maintenance costs of the buildings, and to provide new experiences for park visitors along with added future lease revenue for the park by presenting prospective lessees with safe, appealing facilities, ready to complete renovation on, and to restore for commercial use
