C40 Contractor Logistics Support Background

The C-40A aircraft is a commercial derivative of the Boeing Next Generation (NG) 737-700C Increased Gross Weight (IGW) aircraft containing a digital cockpit and capable of all weather, long range, and high-speed non-stop flights between nominally suited airfields. The C-40A aircraft were procured using Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 12 commercial acquisition procedures and are operated under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Type Certification.

To date, the Department of the Navy (DoN) has procured 19 C-40A aircraft to satisfy the Navy Unique Fleet Essential Airlift (NUFEA) mission requirements. Currently, the 17 United States Navy (USN) aircraft are organically supported at five squadrons and commercially maintained at one squadron (VR-1). The two United States Marine Corps (USMC) aircraft were procured in July 2019, are scheduled for delivery during the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) and will be commercially maintained at the future final squadron (VMR-1) in Ft Worth, TX.
