Requirements

  • This project provides for the construction of a new Critical Care Center to relocate existing critical and associated ancillary and diagnostic services from seismically deficient Building 500 and for the construction of a new central utility plant, at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System in Los Angeles, CA. The new Critical Care Center will be 450,000 GSF.  This facility will include a mental health ward, surgery suites, pre-operative services, PACU, ICU, Anesthesiology and all support functions for surgery, pharmacy, in-patient intake, radiology, Pathology, Morgue, Central Sterilization, EVS/EVS, and Emergency care service.  The facility will have 160 beds of which 44 will be in the mental health ward.  The location of the new Critical Care Center will be just south of the current Hospital, Building 500.
  • Along with the Critical Care Center, this project will include a new Central Utility Plant (CUP) to replace the existing CUP and will also support the future Research Building and Outpatient Ambulatory Care Building, Parking Structure and other buildings.  It will also include all the necessary utility upgrades to support the new facilities.  This project would have to be constructed to meet LEED silver standards.
